The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) is the voice of Canada’s Ukrainian community. The Congress brings together under one umbrella all the national, provincial and local Ukrainian Canadian organizations. Together with its member organizations, the UCC has been leading, coordinating and representing the interests of one of Canada’s largest ethnic communities (1.4 million) since 1940 and has been instrumental in shaping Canada’s social, economic and political landscape.

Growing our Community
Celebrating and Advancing our Ukrainian Canadian Identity
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) strives to be a proactive, national, united and self-sustaining body that provides a high standard of leadership for the Ukrainian Canadian community.
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) represents the Ukrainian Canadian community before the people and Government of Canada, promotes linkages with Ukraine and identifies and addresses the needs of the Ukrainian community in Canada to ensure its continued existence and development for the enhancement of Canada’s socio-cultural fabric.
Since 1940, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress-National has provided outstanding leadership, coordination and advocacy for Ukrainian Canadians. We have empowered and united our community and by building consensus, remaining committed to our grassroots and providing invaluable services.
Having celebrated the 75th anniversary of the UCC and the 125th anniversary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada, we recognize our community’s contributions to the essential fabric of Canadian life and culture in building a diverse, inclusive and welcoming Canada. These milestones have enjoyed recognition nationwide with many provinces and communities dedicating special celebrations of the Ukrainian Canadian community. In 2017 we were pleased to honour the 150th Anniversary of Canada’s Confederation, paying tribute to the leadership role of youth.
As the Ukrainian people bravely defend themselves against Russia’s aggression, we must advocate for Ukraine with determination, resolve and unity of purpose. We will continue to tirelessly support the Ukrainian people until peace and prosperity returns to Ukraine.
I would like to recognize our organizations for their hard work in providing valuable services to the communities they serve. A heartfelt thanks to our donors as you fuel the work we do. Thank you to the thousands of volunteers across Canada that contribute countless hours to ensure we continue to build a conscientious community that cares for others.
The UCC is served by a dedicated Board of Directors, Committees that do the heavy lifting and an Executive Committee that has demonstrated unwavering energy, patience, and commitment – for which I am profoundly grateful. Sincere thanks to UCC’s Advisory Council, chaired by James Temerty, C.M. and UCC’s Ukraine Advisory Council, chaired by Bohdan Kupych who have provided a wealth of knowledge and support especially during very challenging times. Significant recognition must be given to our hard working staff team, led by Chief Executive Officer Ihor Michalchyshyn, for their 24/7 work ethic and commitment to our community.
Thank you for your dedicated commitment and support of our community,
Alexandra Chyczij, UCC National President
